Our weekend...

Well, our weekend started with the high school homecoming game. Great job Knights!! The boys pulled it out literally in the last seconds! It was a great game - great weather - huge crowd. What great memories! O even pulled out my old cheerleading coat - suppose it could be considered "vintage"!!

Saturday we went to the last Highland Game of the year - at least the last one we are going to. Chad had a lot of fun - although he didn't place as high as he would have like. It sure has been an experience going to these games. I have learned a lot and met a ton of great people. I am so thankful that so many friends and family came to see him compete - it means a lot to both of us.

Saturday night was Hawkeye football - and we BEAT PSU!! Congrats to the Hawks! Such a great game - we are definitely underrated - but sometimes it is better that way. I am proud to be a Hawk and very impressed with the work ethic of the kids! Such a great game!!

Today was cleaning day around our house. It is fall clean up week in town, which means you can put all of your big items out at the curb, and the city will pick them up. We cleaned the upstairs out - threw away a TON of toys and cleaned out the garage.

It was also NFL Sunday - and the MN Vikings were playing the SF 49ers. This is a big game for our family as we are Vikings fans. Usually this would be a great day - nice afternoon football game. But, it wasn't on TV here at home - and a big majority of my family was in MN to watch the game. See, apparently a group of my siblings and cousins got together and decided they would make a trip up to the game. We weren't asked to go - which, we probably wouldn't have gone anyway, but we weren't even told about the trip. We had to hear about it by chance. And maybe I am oversensitive, but I think that is pretty crappy!!

I think sometimes people don't understand little things that they do may effect people in a big way. I am of the feeling that you should treat your family with love and respect. ALL of your family. You don't get to choose your family, but when everyone else may not stand behind you, you will always have your family. When you are a family member that is treated as a lesser person, it makes a difference. It can start when you are young - and carry on into your adult life. I think it is extremely hurtful when a family function is planned as an outing for MOST of the family - and some of the family is excluded - whether purposely or accidentally. I have come to terms with the fact that I am not as close with some of my family members, but I feel like I am high school again....and I am 34 years old. Should anyone ever feel like that with your family? I don't think so.

Being a homemaker...

Well, last night was my first attempt at canning, actually pressure cooker canning. I think it went OK - at least the jars are sealed and LOOK like green beans still. I will be working with beans all night tonight - good thing there is lots of good TV on tonight!! We won't have to buy green beans for a year - if not more!! Oh well, it is a good thing to learn!!

Chad has a highland game this weekend. It is supposed to rain and be chilly! That is a great time to sit outside and watch men in skirts throw telephone poles! I tell you what, the things we do for our men!! Hopefully he will do well, which will make it all worth it! I think this is the last game of the season - sure has been an experience this summer. I am glad he got involved in it!

Other than that - looking forward to Homecoming tomorrow - will be a pep rally and everything. Took the night off work so that I could go with the kids. They are all very excited about it! Hopefully the rain will hold off and not make it miserable!! I will keep my prayers going that direction!

Ok - I don't think there is anything else right now...peace out!

Beans coming out my ears....

Today we had a friend who came across some free fresh green beans. We said we would like to have some of them to can or freeze or whatever. Well, SOME turned into 3 cases of them. Chad and I spent 2 hours watching TV and snapping beans tonight. We got through 1 case. I don't have any idea how we are going to can all of the beans. The kids all helped - but only for a little while. C helped for a while and then said he was bored! So was I, but there were still beans to snap! So, tomorrow afternoon, I will be canning and picking my first beans. It sure has been an exciting summer/fall - have so many mason jars filled with veggies, I can't believe it! Sure has been exciting!

Said it was coming out today...

Tonight before bed, O went to the bathroom. She then walked into the living room and said "My poop's not coming out." I told her it would be ok, it would come out tomorrow. She then said, with complete seriousness, "It said it was coming out today, but its not coming out." Too funny...out of the mouth's of babes!!

Here I go...

I don't know for sure why I am starting a blog, but I think about things a lot and we have some crazy stuff happen in our house, and I think people would enjoy them! I used to have people tell me if we had a reality show, they would definitely watch!

For starters, my husband and I have been married for almost 11 years. We have a son, J, who is 14 and a freshman. Our daughter, O, is 10 years old, but is developmentally delayed and functions about the same as a 4 or 5 year old. Then comes another son, M, who is almost 9 and in 3rd grade. Finally the last boy, C, is almost 6 and just started kindergarten. We have two dogs, Cash (a great dane) and Duncan (a yorkie poo). Crazy combination, I know!! Then we have two cats, Chloie and Bella (aka Baby Cat, even though she is 4 years old).

I work at a church in the mornings, and at a bar/restaurant a couple nights a week! I know, church and bar - but gotta get to the middle of the road somehow! I had someone tell me, I was with the saints during the day, and the sinners at night! Never thought about it that way.

I am really not sure about the direction of the blog, just depends on my mood, I guess. We will see where it goes! Feel free to follow or comment...if anyone is out there!!
